Today was the first day back to school for our girls. They were very excited to go back! Macayla just kept talking about how now she is a 3rd grader. When Rachel started school last year, she was very apprehensive. Macayla has talked about Mrs. Linn (Rachel's 1st grade teacher this year) enough that we think that has helped build the excitement for Rach this year. And even though she was fine with going to school today, I do think that it was starting to hit home that she wasn't going to be with me all day for a while. Last night before bed, Rachel said to me, "Mommy, I love you so so much!" I told her I loved her so much too. Less than 5 minutes after that, Rachel said again, "I love you Mommy". I apparently didn't hear her, because she said, "Mommy, I said I love you!" I told Matt when we went to bed last night that she must be missing me already.

This morning, they both told me that they hoped that I put a card in their lunchboxes...I had already done those the night before, so at lunch today, they had a nice surprise! They both had a really good day. Macayla came out of school all smiles and talking with her best friend, of course. (I don't even know if she realized I was even there!:) And Rachel came out all smiles too, and ran up and gave me a big hug! (That made this mom feel pretty good...)

awe shucks, vickie, thanks for sayin' that! :) i just got on to check my email and there you were. last year in kindergarten, i had stuck a note in rachel's lunchbox that said "I LOVE YOU" on it. she brought it back home to me and she had written underneath that, "I LOVE YOU MORE!" (with help of course)...isn't that so sweet?? i'm pretty sure i cried that day...

Those notes are so nice. During the week of my last anniversary I made a note in a jar for each day (7) leading up to our anniversary. It went over so well I did it for the whole month (well 25 days anyway) one "I'm glad your my son (or daughter) because..." Each day that got one and I'm pretty sure they each still have their slips of paper tucked away in their rooms.

It's amazing what a little note will do!

Way to go Jenn! You get this week's GREAT MOM award! (trophy to come..."

In my favorite sport, tennis, it really is helpful to have a good serve. It could help you in winning more games. In the same way, life is a lot like that. We need to do our best in "serving" others. Jesus didn't come to be served, but to serve. There are many ways to do this. Just maybe, in our service, God will use us "to win one more" for Him...
